I was at church one day and one of my friends had lost 40 lbs…when I got home, I looked at myself in the mirror and I said “I am sick at looking at you, it is time for a change”. In March 2010, Age 46, I joined Matt’s bootcamp. I have never stopped going. This is the best workout program I have ever been in. I am always motivated, I can not wait to get there!! I can see results…toning up and losing weight. Also, my energy level is at its highest! Best thing of all, I feel so good when I complete a workout. I don’t know how I went this long without it. I am so glad I “enlisted” in bootcamp. I just didn’t challenge myself, like Matt challenges us in class. You need a healthy eating plan and workout program to succeed, you get both in bootcamp. Plus you get a trainer who truly cares about you!!

From the first class I visited, I was hooked and signed up immediately when I got to work. Before Matt’s boot camp, I was a daily visitor to 24 Hour Fitness, and attended the boot camp and kickboxing classes. However, I was looking for a new workout routine and a new challenge, where each work out was different than the last and where you had no idea what was coming next – Matt’s boot camp does just that. Matt challenges and pushes me, but not in the overbearing/military in-your-face way. At 6 a.m., (I PROMISE you get used to the earliness) this is the work out you want to do. The boot campers are great too; we motivate, encourage and hold each other accountable; plus, I have made new friends.
Going on three months, I can see INCREDIBLE results. This is the most toned I have been. I can see a difference when I look at pictures and I’ve even had to buy a smaller size in clothes since I started. I can tell my strength and endurance have improved – at the beginning, I did “girl” pushups and now, I can do at least 50 “man” pushups. I also couldn’t hold my plank for more than 25 seconds, now a minute is “easy”.
Losing weight, feeling great, and seeing the toned muscles in my arms and legs makes Matt’s boot camp AWESOME.

In September of 2009 I had to have major surgery on my right lung which brought my very active lifestyle to a screeching halt. I was told not to do anything that would cause me to become out of breath while my lung was healing. At first I was very antsy and couldn’t imagine being that slow paced, but sooner or later it became very easy to be lazy. In May I decided to find a work out group that I could join for some accountability, and through Complete Wellness Boot Camp I got accountability and much, much more!
First of all, the workouts are intense. Each class we target every area of the body in a variety of workouts that are very challenging. Class is never boring and you never know what to expect! Another thing I love about Complete Wellness Boot Camp is that Matt is a very encouraging leader. I have to admit I was nervous about being yelled at, but that is not the case here. He will push you when you think you can’t go any longer, but at the same time understands that there are limitations we all face. Hearing “you can do it” or “look how much you’ve improved” really help keep you motivated to push yourself. The best part about each work out sessions is being surrounded by fellow Christians. The conversations are wholesome and people are friendly, which is more than I can say about the gym’s I had previously been a member of. It is great to be around people who are there to work out and encourage those around them to do their best, without feeling like you are in a competition.
I would highly recommend Complete Wellness Boot Camp to anyone who is looking to get into a healthier lifestyle. There is nothing that compares!

When I started, I was terrified. My husband spent 15 years in the Air Force and knows exactly what real Boot Camp is all about. After much fretting on my part, he told me that I should quit before I started because I had already decided I would fail. He knows me well enough after 18 years together that those are FIGHTING WORDS. I am not a quitter—especially when someone tells me I can’t! So I went. It was cold and rainy and we worked out inside. It was not as bad as I thought the first day. Until that night—when I could not move. I went back on Wednesday and that is when the real test began. I was last—VERY LAST—and not even close to the next to the last person on EVERYTHING. I am not used to being last and I don’t like it. The undeniable realization of just exactly where I was physically was very hard to swallow. After the first week’s PT test I was able to crank out one push up and 2 sit ups. It took me 32 minutes to do two miles. There was nowhere to go but up from this point. This is where the group of amazing support in this Boot Camp come into play. There is no condemnation, judgment, or competition. We do OUR best and encourage everyone else to do the same. We cheer for each other. We lift up each other. We pray for each other. We love each other and we hold each other accountable. I have never missed a work out that I have not received at least one call (usually more) asking where I was and making sure everything was okay. I would love to say that each session got easier. It has not. But, I have not quit. I have lost 12.5 inches and almost 10 pounds. Most importantly to me, I am doing something hard and actually starting to enjoy it. Some mornings, I think that I may die but I trust that Matt will not actually kill me. I can now run all the way around the track, do 15 “real” push-ups, and 15 full sit ups. This morning, I did 50 push-ups (on my knees). I am not one of those people that look good working out and it is not easy for me. I am not graceful, flexible, fast, or look good in shorts and spandex but I am making progress. My goal continues to be/do the best that I can be/do. I would like to not be last one day but I am encouraged by the fact that the few times I have managed to finish before someone else—that someone never comes back—I’M STILL HERE. Boot Camp has been one of the best experiences of my life.

In October of 2009 I was reading the church bulletin and saw the notice for boot camp, I thought, I need to sign up because my “workout” (now I realize I was more wasting time, than working out) was getting rather boring and not really doing anything. I was 45 and had hit a weight of 202 and I needed to get this under control. In the first boot camp, we warmed up and Matt said, “grab your ipods we are going for a run around the church”. It is a mile around the church and I hadn’t run a mile in over 25 years! I thought my heart would explode! After the first week in camp I could barely walk and sit down as I found muscles I didn’t know existed. I decided to keep going and not quit no matter how much my body said to take it easy. That decision is the best one I have ever made from a health perspective. Now a year later I am down to 180lbs and have lost 4 inches on my waist. I feel better than I ever have and I now LOVE to run! I have also taken up doing Triathlons and I have completed 3 this year. Matt has been a big inspiration as he practices what he teaches. He is devoted to pushing everyone to do their best. Bootcamp isn’t about competition or being discouraged, it is about each person doing their best.
I encourage all potential campers to “grab their iPods” and join as soon possible. Commit and don’t quit and I guarantee you will love the experience!
David
